Veneto Vetro Srl Company Information

Vispārīga informācija

The Veneto Vetro story began in the 1960s in a territory - Venice - whose glass making traditions are extremely ancient. Craft working skill blended with entrepreneurial spirit have been the company's trademark since the beginning.

In 1964 brothers Mario and Valentino Giacchetto saw their business opportunity in the embryonic urbanisation taking place at the Jesolo beach area, the consequence of the economic boom of those years.

This is how Vetromeccanica began and immediately developed commercial links with the area's building firms. The company was one of the first to invest in automatic machines for glass working and glass curvature furnaces and to create a double glazing range thus offering avant-garde processes right from the start.

In 1989 the Giacchetto brothers understood the need for tempered glass which was strong enough to be used in building in elements without a load bearing structure. Thus Veneto Vetro was set up in Montebelluna with new machinery for tempering glass which enlarged and reinforced the Vetromeccanica manufacturing site too.

In the decades which followed it was the push towards diversification which guided Veneto Vetro's development and progressively took it to new markets as it expanded and updated its machinery pool.

The building, boat and ship-building and public and private transport sectors have been the main driving forces since the 1990s.

In 1997 the second generation joined the company with Mario's daughter Giorgia Giacchetto and later her husband Pierpaolo Bazzacco.

From the year 2000 onwards, the growth of bio-architecture and in general, a new sensitivity to the issues of energy saving and environmental sustainability have given fresh impetus in building to the use of a material which is non-polluting and totally recyclable. Glass surfaces of increasingly large dimensions have encouraged the harmonious integration of buildings into their environment while requiring the use of high performance glass (sun control glass, selective double glazing, low emission, anti-reflex glass and anti-scratch glass).

2010 was the year of changes to Veneto Vetro's company structure. In an agreed diversification strategy, brothers Mario and Valentino decided to divide the Veneto Vetro and Vetromeccanica companies between them in order to encourage two complementary and synergic specialisation processes. Mario Giacchetto thus became Veneto Vetro's sole managing director.

At the same time, thanks to the development of new technologies (in particular digital printing on glass), Veneto Vetro has developed its research into architecture for interior and exterior design. Partnerships with planning and design studios were set up to make personalised façades and windows, stairways, railings, wall coverings and tables and experiments made in manufacturing and sale of design furniture and objects in glass together with designers and artists such as Andrea Vizzini and Sergio Favotto.

In 2012 interest in experimentation and sensitivity to the issue of environmental sustainability prompted Veneto Vetro to take part in the Future Steps event at the XIII Venetian Architecture Biennial with the creation of the Studiomobile Networking Nature project. Networking Nature uses solar water desalination technology to create an innovative urban landscape and reflect on the network as a tool for resource sharing.

That same year, Veneto Vetro carried out a co-ordinated image restyling process in order to demonstrate its dynamism and ongoing drive for improvement. Our new institutional logo aims for greater focus and clarity and the new payoff (Leading experience in glass transfomation) affirms the achievements of the last nearly 50 years of history. At the same time the new Cromoglass brand was launched for the innovative digital printing on glass technology with ceramic inks which is one of the company's distinctive assets.

In 2013 enlargement work on the manufacturing site and the new office building designed by architect Francesco Michielin was completed in Montebelluna in Via G. Ferraris.

Today Veneto Vetro has one of the best glass working machinery pools in Europe and an 8000 square metre manufacturing site.
